My beloved … particularly Those in pastoral leadership.
1. None of us has monopoly over the truth. “Your truth” is not the absolute, and should never be paraded as such
2. Your understanding and interpretation of text is not the alpha and the omega . You are not the sole custodian of text and truth
3. Intolerance to others and their interpretation leads to animosity and divisions within the Body
4. If we disagree let’s do so respectfully without resorting to slander and insults.
I have noted this debate on what the Bible says or doesn’t say about women in ministry. What is of concern to me is not necessarily the topic itself but the manner in which some contributors have been responding, to a degree where it became personal.
Now, on the topic itself, here’s my take – very simple. GOD IS SOVEREIGN. He calls and sanctifies into any office anyone He chooses – man, woman, boy, or girl. If He in His sovereignty unctions a woman to be a spiritual leader of men, who are we to question Him?
If a female says God has called her to lead or to be a pastor, who are we to dispute her? Where were we when she had an encounter with God?
This argument of women in ministry is as old as the church itself. It’s a Roman Catholic doctrine that has been imposed upon us for ages …. Hence there’s no “mother” in that denomination but only bo “father”.
Even “the 12 apostles church” (Old Apostolic; New Apostolic), and the “Church of Christ” too. The Anglicans have overcome that struggle now lately.
Brethren, let God be God and have His own way. If He places me, a man, am under the leadership of a woman, I will gladly oblige.
My submission is a simple one – Woman, if you are called to lead, please lead; if you’re called to pastor, please do so without fear or favour.
